Tandoori chicken drumsticks

Prep time; 15 mins
Marinate time; 4 or overnight
Cooking time; 10 mins
Total time; 25 + marinate time


1 kg chicken drumsticks
2 tablespoons vegetable oil/ olive oil
½ cup yoghurt
1 teaspoon tandoori masala
1 tablespoon ginger
1 tablespoon garlic
1 teaspoon red food color
½ a lemon
Salt and pepper to taste


Wash, dry and remove skin from chicken, then make deep slits. Season with salt and pepper. Squeeze lemon; mince garlic; grate ginger

Place chicken with all ingredients in a large zip top bag.  Turn the bag from side to side to make sure the chicken is well coated with the marinade. Place the bag in a refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or better overnight


Grill chicken for about 8-10 minutes, or until it is cooked to your liking. You can also cook in oven for about 15 – 20 mins, or until well cooked but not dry

Serve as desired
