French toast with cinnamon banana sauce

French Toast

2 large eggs
½ cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
4 large slices of bread (or 6 small)
Unsalted butter and vegetable oil for frying

Cinnamon bananas sauce

4 tablespoons unsalted butter
¼ cup brown sugar
2 ripe bananas
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon


Step 1; Making French toast

Preheat oven to 120 degrees C. In a large mixing bowl, combine milk, eggs, vanilla, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon until well mixed

Dip slices of bread in the egg mixture, one at at time; on both sides until well soaked

Grease a frying pan over medium heat with butter and cooking oil. Place well soaked toast onto a pan

Cook both sides until golden brown and crisp, about 2-3 minutes per side; add more butter and oil to the pan if needed

Place french toast in a baking dish in a preheated oven; while making the sauce

Step 2; Making the cinnamon banana sauce

Slice bananas

Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in sugar until dissolved

Add banana slices stirring until well coated in the sauce and warmed through. Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon.

Pour cinnamon bananas sauce over the French Toast. Serve hot
